Marvel Studios is thinking of resurrecting the original Avengers ensemble, which includes Scarlet Johannson’s Black Widow and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. In the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, audiences saw the deaths of two fan favorites. The former is already due to appear in her own prequel film, but there has been no confirmation of Iron Man’s comeback or the resuscitation of the original cast in its entirety. However, according to Variety, there have been negotiations with the original actors regarding a possible new Avengers film. This implies that the pair may return as members of the MCU.
The Cost of Reviving the Characters Will Be Too Expensive
Despite ongoing conversations about it, Marvel has yet to completely commit to the notion. The cost of reviving the characters will be too expensive. Downey was paid $25 million for his role in Iron Man 3. Aside from a large payout, the question is if Johannson or Downey want to reprise their roles. He offered that the studio replace him with Tom Cruise in an interview with Extra. Johansson has been particularly vocal about her desire not to return. “The chapter is over. “I did everything I needed to do,” she admitted on Gwyneth Paltrow’s podcast.
In addition to the deaths of Iron Man and Black Widow, Chris Evans’ Captain America became an elderly man in the last Avengers film. The emergence of the MCU’s universe might be one method of resurrecting the deceased characters. Loki’s second season continues to explore the multiverse. Again, the original Avengers might make a reappearance in one of Marvel’s planned group films, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2026 or Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. However, nothing has been verified as of yet, and the rebirth appears to be a long way off.
