The SUV’s driver, according to Metrolinx, departed the scene without suffering any serious injuries. He’ll be charged with acting recklessly. The Organization also stated that every year 100 Canadians are killed or seriously injured at the railway crossing.
Martin Gallagher, Metrolinx’s chief safety officer said “Everyone needs to be alert at level crossings and remember that trains move quickly and can appear at any time.”
According to Metrolinx Chief Safety Officer Martin Gallagher most of these incidents “like the one in the video, are preventable.” He said “Collisions at level crossings are caused by pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers who deliberately take risks or make bad decisions by mistake, out of habit, or because they’re distracted,”
