According to the Independent, a viral TikTok Boat Challenge has resulted in 4 deaths in the US in the last six months. People are recorded jumping and flipping from the back of a moving boat into the lake in the risky act. Despite the fact that the task appears to be straightforward. Jim Dennis of Alabama’s Childersburg Rescue Squad claims that it resulted in four “easily avoidable” drowning deaths in the state.
“That is a very big concern because we have seen this pattern emerge over the last two years and it’s sporadic, but it’s something that needs to go away and stay away,” Mr. Dennis added.
The First Incident Occurred in February
According to the source, the first incident occurred in February. A man died while undertaking the viral challenge on the boat with his wife and three small children. The most recent fatality occurred in mid–May, according to Mr. Dennis, who added that all fatalities were male.
“The four that we responded to when they jumped out of the boat, they literally broke their neck and, you know, basically an instant death,” Mr. Dennis added.
Furthermore, the official asked families and friends to keep their loved ones from attempting the lethal challenge. “I think people, if they’re being filmed on camera, I think they’re more likely to do something stupid because they want to show off in front of their friends for social media,” he told a local media source. “Do not do it,” he said, adding, “It’s not worth your life.”
