Mark Zuckerberg uploaded a Facebook post with a screenshot showing WhatsApp’s account switching capability and a commentary predicting the potential to manage two WhatsApp accounts within a single app on one’s phone in the near future.
“Switch between two accounts on WhatsApp. Soon you’ll be able to have two WhatsApp accounts on one phone within the app,” the caption reads.
According to a Facebook blog post, the function is useful for transitioning between accounts, such as business and personal, and you no longer need to log out each time, carry two phones, or be concerned about texting from the wrong location.
How to Create a Second WhatsApp Account for Business or Personal Use?
A second phone number and SIM card, or a phone that allows multi-SIM or eSIM, are required to set up a second account.
- Simply go to your WhatsApp settings,
- Click the arrow next to your name
- Select “Add account.” This allows you to manage two different accounts within the app
You will also be able to customize your privacy and notification settings for each of these accounts separately.
The company also reminded customers in this blog post, “As a reminder, only use the official WhatsApp and don’t download imitations or fake versions as a way of getting more accounts on your phone. Your messages are only secure and private when using the official WhatsApp.”
