The Oscar-nominated director gave the first frightening look at Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker on his Instagram account. The image depicts the phoenix as Arthur Flex, shirtless on a chair, seemingly in Arkham Asylum, where he has been admitted once more. He is staring up at the ceiling with a lifeless expression on his face as the facility worker shaves him.

Like in the first movies, Arthur appears to have shed a significant amount of weight in order to get into character. The Oscar winner lost 52 pounds for the 2019 movies, and the shift was hard on him. According to E! News, the actor later stated that he developed a disorder and become obsessed with his new weight.

The Musical Sequel Follows Harley Quinn, The Arkham Asylum Psychologist, Who Falls in Love with Her Patient Arthur Fleck

“The musical sequel follows Harley Quinn, the Arkham Asylum shrink, who falls in love with her patient Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker,” according to film synopsis.

Harry Lawtey, Jacob Lofland, and Brendan Gleeson will also appear in the sequal to the 2019 picture. Zazie Beetz will return to the part she played in the first flim.

Todd Phillips’ first feature, which received acclaim from both audiences and reviewers. The R-rated film grossed a stunning $1 billion at the box office worldwide.

‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ will be released in theatres on October 9, 2024.
